Introducing SCIO: Mastery-Based Learning with Generated Assessments
SCIO turns your course material into reviewed, mastery-gated assessments. Every question is independently verified and instructor-approved before a student sees it.
We’re building SCIO so that students don’t move on until they’ve got it, and so that instructors keep control of every question their students see.
What is SCIO?
SCIO is a mastery-based learning platform for higher education. Instructors build a course from modules. Each module has learning content and one assessment. A student unlocks the next module by mastering the one before it.
How the assessments are made
SCIO generates draft multiple-choice questions from your own module content, topics and sources. You can add guidance to steer them. Then:
- A separate check verifies each question. It marks every question Agreed, Disagreed or Inconsistent, so the shaky ones stand out.
- You approve, reject or edit. Edits are verified again. Nothing reaches a student until you approve it.
- You set the mastery threshold. Choose a value from 60 to 100 for each assessment.
Feedback that points somewhere
After an attempt, students see their answer next to the correct one, with explanations and links back to the module content. Weak topics are highlighted, and retries focus on them.
Control over student records
A student’s full record set can be exported. A student can also be anonymized on request. That action is recorded and cannot be undone, and de-identified data is kept for statistics.
