How SCIO works
Two loops: how you build a course, and how students move through it.
Building a course
For instructors. From your material to a published course, with you approving every question.
Author courses and modules
Build a course as an ordered sequence of modules. Each module has rich-text learning content, learning objectives, topics and file attachments, plus one assessment.
Generate grounded questions
SCIO drafts questions from the module's content, topics and any scoped knowledge sources, not from generic internet knowledge. Add guidance to steer them. Nothing reaches a student until you approve it.
Verify independently
Each generated question gets a separate correctness check, marked Agreed, Disagreed or Inconsistent. The shaky ones are flagged for your attention.
Review and approve
Approve, reject, or edit each question. Edits are re-verified. "Approve all" is available, but it skips questions that failed verification.
Publish with guardrails
Publishing is refused if a module is missing topics or an approved question set. SCIO tells you exactly what's missing.
Share a join code
There is no public catalog. Share a join code or link instead. Codes can expire, cap enrollments, be regenerated, or be revoked.
Learning a course
For students. Each module opens only when the one before it is mastered.
Join with a code
Enter the join code or open the link your instructor shared.
Study the module
Work through the module's learning content before taking its assessment.
Take the assessment
Answer multiple-choice questions. You can save and resume. Answers aren't shown during the attempt, and the score arrives when you submit. Instructors can set attempt limits and cooldowns.
Get detailed feedback
See your answer next to the correct one, with explanations, links back to the content, and the misconception a wrong choice points to. If a question looks wrong or unfair, flag it for your instructor.
Retry on weak areas or move on
Feedback highlights weak topics, and retries prioritise them with fresh questions where possible. Reaching the mastery threshold unlocks the next module.
Try SCIO with your own course material
SCIO is opening up gradually. We'll let you know when it's your turn.
